Whenever a new restaurant pops up in town, I'm immediately curious. I want to know about the chef, their mantra, their approach, and their vision. I'm also deeply concerned with aesthetics, so it must look chic as it serves me my ritzy mocktail. Slack Tide is a gorgeous space with even more gorgeous food.

Situated in Scott's Addition in the space that used to house Blue Bee Cider, Slack Tide has an enormous outdoor seating area within a perfectly pristine screened porch. I loved the openness of the space, though I do wonder how they will adapt for the winter months as they have yet to be open during that time. The indoor seating area was modern and clean but limited. The dishes were served so carefully, and they were highly picturesque. One dish included trout roe AND potato chips, incredible.
As usual, we had to try the oysters. Nice way to ignite the evening. I found their service to be exceptional, with our waiter being very attentive and informative. They also were masterful at spacing out our courses. I also like how the restaurant is within a little mini community of sorts, with a Yellow Umbrella store conveniently next door and Cirrus Vodka across the stone path. A lot of Richmond powerhouses nearby, but Slack Tide easily fits in. I cannot wait to see how operations continue to go.
